Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ) has urged all presidential candidates to begin addressing their rallies by denouncing violence, holiganism and alcohol abuse.

EFZ Executive Director Pukuta Mwanza has expressed concern with the levels of violence being perpetuated by some political party cadres.

Reverend Mwanza says if the situation is left unchecked, the violence may seriously affect the voting process and the outcome of the election.

He says it is unfortunate that many of the cadres perpetuating violence are usually drunk which makes them behave even worse.

Reverend Mwanza stresses that Zambians need peace and unity and should not be disturbed by unruly suspected Patriotic Front cadres.

He adds that the church will continue to stand in the gap and pray for a peaceful transition because Zambia is Christian nation and does not need to see bloodshed because of selfish politicians who do not want to discipline their cadres.
