Taraji P. Henson responds to 50 Cent’s criticism of ‘Empire’: ‘He loves to push buttons’

AttackAfter the rapper claimed that the Fox drama’s marketing materials were similar to his series ‘Power,’ the Oscar nominee tweeted, ‘I pay attention to dollars not cents.’ In a recent interview, she also said that she didn’t ‘take offense’ to his comments.

50 Cent isn’t a fan of the new hip hop drama “Empire” — but the show’s star Taraji P. Henson doesn’t seem to mind.

The Oscar nominee responded to the rapper’s diss of her new Fox series on Twitter earlier this week, after 50 Cent claimed on Instagram that “Empire’s” marketing materials were very similar to the Starz crime drama, “Power,” which he produces.

“POWER Season 2 is unbelievably good trust me,” he wrote last month in a since-deleted post. “I have the best writers and show runner.

“I like Terrence Howard and Taraji Henson. I don’t like that they would copy the Marketing.”

When fans brought the “In Da Club” rapper’s comments to Henson’s attention via Twitter, she responded Monday with a joke about the rapper’s name.

Henson and “Empire” co-star Terrence Howard were also asked about 50 Cent’s comments in an interview with The Wrap on Wednesday.

“50 Cent is a comedian,” the actress said. “He loves to push buttons. He’s a funny guy. I never took offense to it.

“If anything, I thought he was trying to jab at him,” she said pointing to her co-star. “He’s jealous of his looks.”

Howard noted that he starred with 50 Cent in the rapper’s film “Get Rich or Die Tryin’.”

“50 is my monster man,” the actor said. “We served jail time together in his film, we were naked together. I love the fact that we’re both pushing the envelope with our shows.”

As for the rapper, he posted a video on Instagram on Tuesday in which he was shown Henson’s tweet and reacts by calling her “a fine motherf—-r.”

“@tarajiphenson don’t be mad at me,” he captioned the post. “I love your work girl.”
