Saunders says it’s not possible to resolve Barotseland Agreement before 2016

DantePolitical activist Dante Saunders has observed that it is not possible for any political party that will form government after the 20th January presidential to resolve the issue of the Barotseland Agreement before 2016.

Mr. Saunders says the issue of the Barotseland Agreement provides more lessons to be learnt and cannot be an issue that can be resolved overnight.

In an interview with Qfm News, Mr. Saunders says making shortcuts to resolving the issue will only make it continue popping up over and over and may one day led to unnecessary bloodshed in the country.

Mr. Saunders says this is why he thinks people like first republican President Kenneth Kaunda,Sikota Wina and Vernon Mwaanga should play a vital role in resolving the Barotseland Agreement issue because they are the people that signed the agreement.

He says the country should not wait until they are no more before realizing the lost opportunity to use the minds and knowledge of the people that signed the agreement.

Mr Saunders has since proposed that the church should lead the process of resolving the agreement with the leaders that played a part in signing the agreement and with the involvement of Zambian people.

He states that it will be easier this way especially that the Barotseland Agreement issue is not like a country is seeking independence from a colonial master, but one that borders on what was agreed to be honored.

Mr. Saunders has emphasized that resolving the Barotseland agreement should however be for the greater good for Zambia and its people.
