Oasis Forum doubts EL on new constitution enactment

REV MATALE

The Oasis Forum says it doubts Patriotic Front President Edgar Lungu will stick to his word of enacting the new constitution before 2016 if he is elected President following his alleged refusal to sign a social contract with the Grand Coalition on the Demand for the People Driven Constitution.

Oasis Forum Chairperson Suzanne Matale says the fact that Mr. Lungu has allegedly refused to sign the social contract is a clear indication that he has no intentions of giving the Zambian people a new constitution.

Reverend Matale says Mr. Lungu’s argument that when he is elected President he will still have a contract with the Zambian people and therefore bound by their wishes cannot be considered as a justification for his alleged refusal to sign the social contract.

She says this is because the Grand Coalition constitution commitment social contract has been prepared on behalf of the Zambian people in order that whoever becomes their new President that individual should enact a people Driven constitution before the 2016 general elections.

The Oasis Forum Chairperson states that if it happens that Mr. Lungu gets elected as the country’s new President but thereafter fails to deliver a new constitution within the promised period, her Forum will bluntly expose him.

Reverend Matale has warned that the January 20th presidential election is the last chance in which the promise to enact the country’s new constitution must be fulfilled as Zambians are not going to accept any more lies on the issue.
