Mbala District Electoral Officer hails peaceful 2015 election campaigns

Mbala District Electoral Officer, Ronald Daka has commended political parties participating in the 20th January, 2015 presidential elections for conducting peaceful campaigns.

Mr. Daka who is also Mbala Town Clerk said so far the district has not recorded any political violence among the political party cadres campaigning for the forthcoming presidential election.

He urged all the politicians and Mbala residents in general to continue upholding the same spirit of love, respect and tolerance even during and after the polls.

Mr. Daka said this during the District Conflict Management Committee meeting held in the council Chamber yesterday.

Meanwhile, 412 people had their voter’s cards replaced in Mbala district during the just ended voter’s cards replacement exercise.

Mr. Daka disclosed that out of the total of 412, Mbala Constituency recorded 312 segregated as 240 males and 72 females while Senga Hill Constituency captured 100 people with 72 males and 28 females.

The District Electoral Officer attributed the low number of people who had lost and damaged cards replaced to inadequate publicity of exercise and long distances from the centres as some people could not reach them.

The voter’s cards replacement exercise conducted by the Electoral Commission of Zambia started on 28th December, 2014 and ended on 3rd January 2015 in all the 150 constituencies in the country.
