PF justifies Simbyakula’s presence at printing of Ballot papers

The Patriotic Front has cleared speculation surrounding the presence of Home Affairs Minister Ngosa Simbyakula at the printing of ballot papers in South Africa, saying he is there as the party’s representative.

PF Secretary General Davis Chama in a statement says the party is therefore surprised that an unfair attack has been waged by the UPND and the Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) with regards the presence of the PF representative at the printing of ballots.

Mr Chama explains that Dr Simbyakula who is a Member of the Central Committee (MCC) and is in charge of Legal and Constitutional affairs was assigned to be the party’s representative due to his broad knowledge in elections, legal and constitutional affairs.

He adds that Dr Simbyakula is on leave from his office.

Mr Chama further states that the decision to assign Dr Simbyakula was also arrived at because the PF Chairperson for Elections Sylvia Masebo remains a suspended official until such a time that the Central Committee resolves her matter.

He states that the party could not have picked a more suitable representative than Dr Simbyakula.

Mr Chama has since appealed to FODEP and other stakeholders to ensure that they build confidence in the electoral process.

He says the statements coming from the UPND and FODEP only go to undermine the electoral process and might encourage voter apathy.
