I endorsed Lungu because of his vision – RB

Former Republican President Rupiah Banda says the opposition is shaken after hearing that he has endorsed PF President Edgar Lungu.

Mr. Banda has advised Zambians not vote for a person who has never even won a ward election, saying they lack experience.

Speaking during a mammoth rally in Chipata District in Eastern Province, Mr. Banda said there is no doubt that the opposition is not at peace after hearing that he is rallying behind the PF Presidential candidate.

The former Head of State says he has not endorsed Mr. Lungu just because he is from Eastern Province but because of his vision for the country.

He says the opposition will be shocked to find that Mr. Lungu will get more votes from Eastern Province in January 20th presidential election.

He adds that he will be there to direct Mr. Lungu if he starts going in the wrong direction until he delivers according to his promises.

Speaking at the same rally, PF President Edgar Lungu said the opposition UPND is a tribal as it only wants a Tonga person to take over the leadership of the party.

Mr. Lungu says this is why he also thinks that the only qualification for the UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema had to become UPND President was that he was a Tonga person.

He however notes that the ruling PF is a party that does not choose its leaders on tribal lines giving himself as example having taken over the mantle of the leadership mantle despite not being a Bemba.

Some of the notable people present at the rally included among others, former Vice Republican President Lupando Mwape, former MMD National Chairperson Muhabi Lungu, ABZ Leader Father Frank Bwalya, former Matero Member of Parliament Faustina Sinyangwe, Education Minister John Phiri, and Eastern Province Minister Malozo Sichone.
