UPND has sensed defeat- Chama

Patriotic Front (PF) Secretary general Davies Chama says allegations by the United Party For National Development (UPND) that the ruling party is working with the Electoral Commission of Zambia(ECZ) to rig the 20th January presidential election is a clear sign the opposition party has sensed defeat.

Mr. Chama says his party is however committed to abiding by the Electoral Code of conduct and will ensure that it has a clean victory.

He says he is also of the view that for the sake of peace and unity there is need for the opposition UPND to desist from making statements that have the potential to alarm the nation.

The PF Secretary General states that the UPND should also keep it in mind that the ECZ is an independent institution which operates according to its mandate and therefore cannot connive with a political party to rig elections.

He says the UPND should further realize that the ruling PF has worked in the three years that it has been in power and thus Zambians have no doubt about giving it a chance continue in government.
