Opposition MMD president Nevers Mumba has apologized to all people that have felt injured by the statement his party’s acting National Treasurer Elizabeth Chitika- Molobeka during a rally in Kasama on the 21st of December last year.

Mrs. Molobeka was reported tom have said that for the fact that the people of Southern Province are not ashamed to vote for UPND president Hakainde Hichilema people in Northern province should not be ashamed to vote for your own son Dr. Mumba.

But Dr. Mumba says much as the statement in question been understood to carry tribal undertones, it is true that speakers at his party’s rallies are supposed to air the views of the party, but some statements or the way they are presented represent purely the views and style of the individual speakers.

He has told Qfm News in a statement that for the fact that the MMD is a national movement established by Zambians from all 10 provinces he is restating that the former under his leadership will never go tribal as such a position would compromise its Christian faith and values.

The MMD president states that politicians who use tribe to affirm themselves are morally bankrupt as he thinks that Tribe should only be used to define diversity which is the bedrock of any healthy society.

He says it is for this reason he thinks while Mrs. Molobeka’s views attempt to define the current status quo, it does not necessarily represent the policy position of the MMD.
