Nine Mbala,Mpulungu Chiefs endorse Lungu

EDGAR L FistNine Mambwe and Lungu Chiefs from Mbala and Mpulungu Districts have endorsed the candidature of Patriotic Front President Edgar Lungu in the 20th January,2015 presidential election, saying he has the vision to develop the nation.

And the traditional leadership has called on Mr. Lungu to consider changing the land policy that aims at getting customary land from chiefs if elected President.

The traditional leaders said the policy if implemented will be unfair to chiefs because chiefs are the owners of the land.

This came to light during a meeting they held with the PF President last evening that lasted for over two hours at Chila Lodge in Mbala.

Representing the traditional leaders, Chief Zombe appealed to the PF President to also look into the plight of farmers and allocating more fertilizer to the two districts if elected president.

Chief Zombe says the chiefs also want Mr.Lungu if elected Republican President to consider constructing more schools and health institutions in the two districts of Mbala and Mpulungu.

Chief Zombe further stated that Television signal and communication towers are also a challenge in the area, saying while the towers have been put up, they have not yet been commissioned.

The traditional leaders are also asking for ambulances to ease the challenges facing their subjects to transport sick relatives to the nearest health facility.

They have also appealed to the PF President to consider opening an international airport in Mbala stating that there is tourism potential in the two districts.

The chiefs who attended the meeting include, Senior Chief Tafuna, Chief Mphande, Chief Chinakila, Senior Chief Nsokolo, Chief Chitimbwa, Chief Mwamba, Chief Mfwambo, Chief Zombe and Chief Nondo.

Meanwhile Mbala residents this morning braved the rains to attend the rally addressed by Patriotic Front President Edgar Lungu at Lucheche Grounds.

Speaking during the rally,Mr Lungu promised the residents that if voted into office he will work on the roads in the district which are dilapidated.

Mr. Lungu has assured the residents that about 30 kilometers of roads will be done in the district.

The PF President says the first road that will be worked on once he is voted into office is the road leading to Chief Tafuna’s palace.

He says he will also address the challenge of clean drinking water which the province is struggling with by following up with
Chambeshi Water and Sewerage Company to find out why the company is failing to provide quality drinking water.

Mr Lungu also wondered why the province was facing persistent load shedding when it has abundant water and was home to Lunzua power sub-station in Mpulungu.

He has also revealed that if voted into office, he will not tolerate under performing senior government officials saying he wants to work with people who have a vision.
