ACC arrest Ndola Cop for giving false information

The Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested a Police Officer in Ndola for giving false information in the case involving former Copperbelt Police Commissioner Mary Tembo.

ACC Public Relations Manager Timothy Moono a statement says Frederick Kabungo, 48, a Deputy District Criminal Investigations Officer of House No. K 18, Kansenshi Police Camp in Ndola has been charged with one Count of knowingly Misleading Officers of the Anti-Corruption Commission by giving a false statement contrary to Section 63 (b) of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 3 of 2012.Moono ACC

Mr Moono says details of the offense are that on dates unknown but between 1st July 2013 and 31st March 2014 in Kitwe, and in Lusaka, Kabungo misled Officers of the Anti-Corruption Commission when he gave them false statements regarding his involvement and knowledge of the circumstances surrounding the change of ownership of a Toyota Corolla Registration Number AAX 5716 from Grizzly Mining Limited into the names of former Copperbelt Police Commissioner Mary Tembo.

He says this is a matter related to the arrest of the former Copperbelt Police Commissioner Mary Tembo in which she was arrested and charged with two counts of Abuse of Authority of Office contrary to Section 21 (1)(b) of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 3 of 2012.

Kabungo appeared in Court on 23rd December, 2014 for plea, and will appear in Court again on 16th January for commencement of trial.
