PF irked by malicious talk on Lungu’s health

The Patriotic Front campaign team has described as sick, malicious, baseless and only aimed at alarming the nation and the voter population the story in today’s edition of the Post newspapers alleging that PF President Edgar Lungu is ill and may need surgery.

PF Campaign team Spokesperson Harry Kalaba says Mr Lungu has not visited a Doctor with any complaint over a long period of time or in recent years.

Mr Kalaba who is also Foreign Affairs Minister further states that Mr Lungu has never ever contracted a Family Doctor on a full time or part time basis, be them Indian or African.

He says to the contrary, the PF President is enjoying good health both mentally and physically.

He states that the report is a thinly veiled attempt to yet again paint Mr Lungu dark, in the eyes of the Voters by The Post in order to lessen or reduce the popular support the Defence Minister and Minister of Justice continues to enjoy among Zambians.

Mr Kalaba adds that the PF feel the bitter report is a direct violation of Zambian electoral rules that encourage impartiality because the report can plant a seed of doubt in the minds of the voters ahead of the 20th January, 2015 polls regarding the PF candidate.

He says the party has since resolved to write the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) for guidance on this matter.

Mr Kalaba further states that the party will in the same breath, consult its Legal Team for advice on how to proceed on the continued malicious reports by The Post clearly laced with bitterness.

He notes that Mr Lungu has been a victim of an intensive negative media campaign that has seen his enemies in the past almost dig up his mother’s grave in order to link him to Malawian roots but failed.

He further states that Mr. Lungu has been a victim of a negative media blitz that saw his professionalism as a lawyer questioned publicly.

Mr Kalaba says the PF candidate has successfully thwarted off various under hand schemes aimed at curtailing his Presidential bid and that the party has no doubt he will prevail.

He adds that the PF is confident that Mr. Lungu is the chosen one and he will become President of Zambia after the 20th January 2015 elections because he is the one the Zambian people love.
