HRC warns parents against child negligence

The human right commission (HRC) says child negligence still remains root course behind  young people’s continued engagement in illicit activities such as sexual activities and alcohol abuse.

Commission senior investigating officer Kebby Malila says children engage in illegal activities because they are not supervised by guardians or given direction on how to live their lives and hence do anything that pleases them.

Mr. Malila notes that children involve themselves in peer pressure activities because they feel neglected at home.
He has warned that child negligence is a serious offence which can attract a jail sentence.

Mr. Malila says it is unfortunate that currently school going children involve themselves in indoor gathering like sex party without their parents knowing such activities are taking place.

He further states that most of the defilement cases being experience is as a result of child negligence hence the need for guardians to begin caring about their children.
