2015 presidential election is two-horse race between PF and UPND – Mutesa

The opposition ZED President Frederick Mutesa has observed that the January 20th, 2015 presidential election has now become a noticeable two-horse race between the ruling PF’s candidate Edgar Lungu and UPND’s Hakainde Hichilema.

Dr. Mutesa has however noted that it is still also possible that things could change as someone else could emerge a serious contender, but that this is presently a remote possibility.

He has told Qfm News that his party’s appeal to the supporters of various candidates is therefore that they should not be overcome by emotions and think only their candidate can win.

The ZED president states that there is also need to for political parties to conduct campaigns with civility and respect for one another especially that whoever wins this presidential election becomes president for all Zambians including those who voted against him or her.

He says this is why campaigns that are divisive and injure other people’s reputations should be avoided.

Dr. Mutesa has also reminded Zambians to keep in mind that in this kind of electoral contest there can only be one victor.

He has advised that people in the country should therefore prepare themselves to accept and respect the choice of the majority regardless of their personal preferences as this is what democracy is all about.
