Pande disputes Lungu’s assertions

KabingaMovement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) National Chairperson, Kabinga Pande has disputed assertions by Muhabi Lungu and some National Executive Committee (NEC) members that the party will support PF Presidential candidate Edgar Lungu.

And Mr. Pande says Zambia has become politically divided, the situation he has described as dangerous.

Speaking during a press briefing in Lusaka today, Mr. Pande says the MMD should abide by its earlier NEC decision to support UPND candidate Hakainde Hichilema.

Mr. Pande says the purported meeting that was held in Lusaka yesterday was illegal stating that the MMD President was not present at the meeting.

Yesterday former National Secretary Muhabi Lungu held a consultative meeting of Members of Parliament and NEC members at Chrisma Hotel in Lusaka where he announced that 21 NEC members and 26 MPs out of 35 MPs are supporting the candidature of PF President Edgar Lungu.
