Nicki Minaj’s Ex Opens Up: ‘It’s Not Easy’

If you’ve listened to Nicki Minaj’s new album, The Pinkprint, then you know she’s dealt with some recent heartbreak. Even if you haven’t heard the project, but you’ve seen any of the recent interviews she’s done, then you know she’s dealt with some recent heartbreak.

Hurt turned into anger over the weekend, though, when the “Anaconda” rapper and her ex, Safaree Samuels, got into a bit of a spat on Twitter.

In his first time speaking out not only since that digital altercation, but since Nicki’s press run began, SB tried to clear up what went on.

“Definitely not a Twitter war, just a misunderstanding,” he told TMZ. “I don’t know, somebody out there putting some poison out, but definitely nothing but love. Don’t believe none of that.”

In a series of since-deleted tweets, the Young Money Queen indirectly aired out some of her issues.

“Even when I try to protect people, they still try to take advantage of me,” she said. “Haven’t you learned that God is in control? Stop while you’re ahead. Anything you don’t appreciate will be taken. God sees your ungrateful evil soul. I gave and gave and gave. Threatening me? Blackmail? Jump.”

Despite that back-and-forth, he says he doesn’t harbor any negative feelings.

“I support her in everything she do. Her music, her family — that’s somebody — 12 years is a long time, that’s not something you just forget about,” he added. “So, that’s like a family member, you know what I’m saying?”

“It’s not easy but, you know, I gotta do what I gotta do. It’s different when everywhere you go, everything you watch, every single radio station has on that person.”
