HH advises Zambians to uphold peace, unity during Christmas

United Party for National Development (UPND) President Hakainde Hichilema has advised Zambians to uphold peace and unity this Christmas.

In his Christmas message, Mr. Hichilema says this is a time for being thankful and a time for prayers.

Mr. Hichilema notes that though this Christmas has found itself at a crossroad and in the midst of intense political activity, the time to step back and refocus on religious matters is therefore a welcome and necessary interval that should give the country all the space and time to reflect on where the nation is and how the country can better channel its Christian values into delivering positive change.

He explains that the importance of hard work, unity and peace is uppermost in his mind this year citing that these things are needed to drive Zambia forward.

Mr. Hichilema adds that it is imperative that everyone pulls in the same direction together and resist provocation by those who would see people divided.

He points out that Christmas is also a time for remembering those less fortunate, and the poor and vulnerable in society stressing that Fifty years after Independence many are dissatisfied with just how much of the population this represents.

Mr. Hichilema further states that whilst being thankful for what the country has this year, Zambians owe it to themselves and to the to say that next year should be a year for change and moving forward.
