ZDDM’s Edwin Sakala bows out of presidential race

Opposition Zambia Direct Democracy Movement(ZDDM) President Edwin Sakala has withdrawn from the Presidential race citing inadequate time to prepare for the by-election.

Speaking to journalists at the Supreme Court grounds shortly after withdrawing his cEdwin Sakalaandidature, Mr. Sakala says all the political parties that were championing for the comeback of former Republican President Rupiah Banda will this afternoon meet to discuss the way forward.

Mr. Sakala argues that the K10, 000 cash nomination fee and two hundred supporters required for him to successfully file in his nominations is not a problem considering that he has a lot of members.

He says the political parties that were supporting Mr. Banda will meet later today and they will inform the nation on which candidate they will support in the forthcoming presidential by-election.

Mr Sakala adds that the people ought to be careful on who they put in office stating that he has information that some political parties are getting funding from foreigners for their campaigns.
