Mucheleka urges stronger civil society

muchelekaLubansenshi independent Member of Parliament Patrick Mucheleka has advised Civil Society organisations to stand their ground and create a platform that will sustain the country’s democracy.

Mr.Mucheleka notes that Zambia needs a stronger civil society that will focus its energies on driving the country forward regardless of the situation.

He says though the constitution still has a lot of grey areas that hinder some stakeholders to get to the nerves of some issues, there is still room to maneuver and ensure democratic tenets are upheld.

Mr Mucheleka adds that it is also important for government to give a listening ear to the concerns of the citizens by creating a favorable working environment for key stakeholders such as civil society.

He has also implored civil society organizations to be more transparent and desist from being used by selfish politicians ahead of the January 20thpresidential by-election.
