ACC arrests former Lukashya trades principal for corruption

The Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested a former Principal of Lukashya Trades Training Institute in Kasama for theft involving over K 27, 000.

Anderson Mtonga, 56, of house No. Tech 10, TVTC, Lukashya has been charged with three Counts of Theft by Servant Contrary to Section 265 as read with Section 278 of the Penal Code Cap 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

In the first Count, the details are that on dates unknown but between 1st July 2009 and 30th July 2009 in Kasama, Mtonga, being a public officer namely a Principal at Lukashya Trades Training Institute jointly and whilst acting together with other unknown persons, stole K 5,400, property of the Lukashya Trades Training Institute which came into his possession by virtue of him being employed as Principal at the training institute.

In the second Count, Mtonga is alleged to have on dates unknown but between 1st June 2009 and 30th June 2009 in Kasama, being a public officer, namely a principal at Lukashya Trades Training Institute jointly and whilst acting together with other unknown persons stole K 6,000 property of Lukashya Trades Training Institute which came into his possession by virtue of him being employed as Principal at the training institute.

In the third Count, details are that on dates unknown but between 1st November 2009 and 30th November 2009 in Kasama, Mtonga, jointly and whilst acting together with other unknown persons stole K 16,290, property of Lukashya Trades Institute which came into his possession by virtue of him being employed as Principal at Lukashya Trades Training Institute.

He has since been released on bond and will appear in court soon.
