CSPR calls on govt to ensure equal distribution of resources

The Civil Society for Poverty Reduction (CSPR) has appealed to government to come up with strategies that will ensure equal distribution of resources to programs aimed at reducing poverty.

CSPR Executive Director Mwila Mulumbi has observed that there is need for the Patriotic Front (PF) government to channel their energies to reduce the poverty levels across the   country.

Ms Mulumbi stresses that poverty levels have remained high because resources are thinly spread and that why little is achieved in terms of alleviating poverty

She has recommended that government increases resources in the Agriculture sector which if well managed can help to reduced poverty.

Ms. Mulumbi explains that rural development is vital in alleviating poverty thus the need to ensure that human development is promoted.

She says government must promote irrigation, livestock farming and fisheries among the rural communities so that people’s lives can be enhanced.

CSPR Executive Director has further explained that government should also increase resources meant for infrastructure development not just in urban areas but also in remote areas.
