Edgar Lungu urged to take stock of people surrounding him

The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) has observed the need for ruling Patriotic Front (PF) President Edgar Lungu to take stock of the people that surround him if healing is to take place in the ruling party now that the reconciliation have been achieved.

Governance advisor Isaac Mwanza says his of organization is of the view that Mr. Lungu who is also Defence and Justice Minister needs to particularly take stock of members that are alleged to have been fueling differences in the ruling party.

Mr. Mwanza has told Qfm News in an interview that much as YALI is happy to see the ruling PF resolve its differences outside court, it holds the position that if Mr. Lungu understands what it means to stand by the continuity and vision of late President Michael Sata, he needs to understand that all those who Mr . Sata had disassociated with have come back to his side and that there can only be one reason for this.

He says YALI thinks that this could be purely out of benefits they will accrue once he is elected republican president the reason why they are now campaigning for him.

The YALI Governance advisor has since called upon Mr. Lungu to begin thinking with young people.

He says his organization we would like to see more youths included in the decision making and setting of national priorities if the ruling PF is to be given a new mandate to complete late President Sata’s term of office.

And Zambian Voice Executive Director Chilufya Tayali who has described the reconciliation that has taken place in ruling PF as long overdue has noted the need for the ruling party to desist from abusing public resources in its 2015 presidential election campaigns.

Mr. Tayali says his organization hopes that the ruling PF will stick to acting President Guy Scott’s position which recently indicated that he would not be manipulated into using public resources in party campaigns.

He has told QFM news in a separate interview that Zambian Voice is thus urging Dr. Scott to remain principled and maintain his position.

The Zambian Voice Executive Director states that his organization would like to see the ruling party campaign on an even ground with other political parties by using its own resources as opposed to abusing public resources.
