Government has revealed that 90 percent of works pertaining to the installation of mobile communication towers across the country aimed at reducing the cost of doing business have been done.

Transport, Works, Supply and Communications Minister Yamfwa Mukanga says about one hundred and eighty three towers are now fully functional.

Mr. Mukanga says works on about twenty mobile communication towers are still progressing at various levels and he is hopeful that they will be functional soon.

He says the main objective is to ensure that almost all the chiefdoms across the country have the towers in order to improve communication capacity in the rural areas.

Mr Mukanga adds that the project of installing the towers is being undertaken by ZICTA and that all the mobile phone service providers will be connected to the same towers thereby reducing the cost of installation and the cost of doing business for the mobile operators.
