Sinkamba files in nominations, Sikazwe withdraws

Green Party President Peter Sinkamba has successfully filed in his nominations with the Acting Chief Justice Lombe Chibesakunda to contest the 2015 presidential election after struggling for about five hours to raise the required 200 supporters.

GerryAnd People’s Redemption Party (PRP) President Gerry Sikazwe has withdrawn his candidature for the 20th January presidential and has since endorsed PF Presidential candidate Edgar Lungu.

Speaking to journalists after successfully filing in his nominations, Mr. Sinkamba says it was difficult to mobilize the members considering that some parts of Lusaka were experiencing rains.

Mr. Sinkamba has however expressed confidence that he will no doubt win the forthcoming presidential.

He downplayed his struggle to raise the 200 supporters with voters and National Registration Cards saying it is a common thing and that he is not the first one to experience such.

And People’s Redemption Party President Gerry Sikazwe says he has decided to withdraw from the presidential race after having a meeting with PF President Edgar Lungu.

Mr. Sikazwe, who came in a taxi, says he has decided to work with Mr. Lungu and will attempt to contest 2016 elections.

Meanwhile five Green Party members were picked by police after producing fake documentation when they came to support their leader Peter Sinkamba.

The five pleaded with the police that they did not countercheck their documents before going to the Supreme Court because they were in a rush.

The suspects were taken to Lusaka Central Police Station for questioning.
