Next president should establish fast track courts to fight graft – TIZ

Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) says next Republican President should consider establishing fast track courts if corruption in the country is to be fought head on.

Mr. Lungu says the next President should also emulate late Republican President Michael Sata by not sparing Cabinet Ministers involved in corrupt activities.

Speaking in an interview with QFM News, TIZ Executive Director Goodwell Lungu notes that cases of corruption take too much time before they are disposed off hence the next Head of State should address this challenge.

Mr. Lungu notes that some corruption cases which commenced in 2001 under the former Task Force on Corruption are still before the courts of law.

And Mr. Lungu says the next President should consider prioritizing a law that will compel all political parties to state their source of funding for accountability’s sake.

Mr. Lungu says this will help the nation to know what kinds of people are funding political parties.

He notes that at present political parties are not bound by any piece of legislation to disclose their source of funding.
