Govt reaffirms its commitment to addressing high cost of doing business

Government has reaffirmed its commitment to addressing the high cost of doing business through various infrastructural, structural, legislative and regulatory reforms.

Speaking in Lusaka today during the launch of a partnership between United Bank for Africa (UBA) and Necor Zambia Limited, Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister Robert Sichinga says as government rolls out its massive infrastructural development drive and amend laws that impede business growth; the business community should take advantage of the business opportunities that are available as government opens up the country.

Mr. Sichinga notes that government believes that stimulating business growth through infrastructure, skills development for young people, industrialization and business linkages go a long way in addressing the unemployment challenges in the country.

He says government cannot however, create all the employment opportunities singlehandedly, but through working together with the private sector and other stakeholders.

Mr. Sichinga says government will continue implementing business friendly policies.

And speaking earlier, UBA Managing Director Stanley Ugweuze says the bank is committed to contributing to the development of not only Zambia but Africa as a whole.

He says the partnership with Necor Zambia Limited shows its unwavering commitment towards financial inclusion for all Zambians.

And Necor Zambia Managing Director, Friday Mwamba expressed hope that the partnership with UBA will be able to satisfy the demands for the untapped and unbanked individuals and business community.
