Govt extols Plan International Zambia

Government has hailed Plan International Zambia for its efforts in supporting the disabled children in the country.

Speaking when she officially opened a two day disability and inclusion symposium in Lusaka today, Community development, mother and child health Minister Emerine Kabanshi says government attaches great importance to ensuring that children with disabilities are treated equally like any other human being.

Ms Kabanshi notes that Plan Zambia has taken a leading role in ensuring that children have access to education, health and protection from all types of abuse in communities where they belong.

She says it is in this regard that government recognizes the works the organization is doing to uplift the welfare of children with disabilities.

Ms Kabanshi said this in a speech read on her behalf by the deputy minister for community development mother and child health Dorothy Kazunga.

And Plan International Zambia country Director Samuel Musyoki says the organization will continue to provide the necessary attention to children with disabilities at all costs.

Mr. Musyoki says the symposium aims to equip the participants with broad knowledge on persons with disabilities and use it to contribute to the implementation of the national disability plan.

He said this in a speech read on his behalf by Plan International Zambia programs strategy manager Mercy Chabu
