GBV laws need to be stiffened – ZNWL

The Zambia National Women’s Lobby (ZNWL) has observed that the country has reached a point where there has been enough sensitization on Gender Based Violence (GBV) and now needs the law on gender based violence to be stiffened.

Speaking to Qfm in an interview, ZNWL Board Chairperson Beauty Katebe says the law should be stiffened so that once a case of GBV has been reported; it should not be withdrawn whether at Police or Court level.

Ms. Katebe notes that this will help to deter would be perpetrators of Gender Based Violence.

She has further called for the need to stiffen punishment for perpetrators of Gender Based Violence in view of the continued increasing cases of GBV.

Ms. Katebe has further encouraged victims of Gender Based Violence to continue reporting cases of GBV so that perpetrators are brought to book.
