Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) president Edith Nawakwi has demanded that Acting President Guy Scott relieves Patriotic Front President Edgar Lungu of his two ministerial positions.

Speaking during a press conference in Lusaka today, Ms Nawakwi says Mr. Lungu’s continued holding on to his two ministerial positions of Defence and Justice gives him unfair advantage over other presidential candidates in the forthcoming presidential election.

Ms. Nawakwi says Mr. Lungu does not possess the mental disposition to run the country and that in the event he loses the election, he will not be able to ensure a smooth transition of power.

She says the conduct of the PF members does not inspire the people to think that if the party loses the forthcoming presidential election, they will have the moral courage to leave and pave way for new leadership.

Ms Nawakwi stresses that there is no reason for the PF President to cling on to the two ministerial portfolios when he is in the presidential race.

Ms .Nawakwi further notes that the two portfolios Mr. Lungu is holding are too important in this election and hence the need for him to surrender them.

She further states that Dr. Scott should show leadership by relieving Mr. Lungu because the future of the country depends on him.

But reminded that the acting President has no power under the constitution to remove Mr Lungu from his positions, Ms Nawakwi said the issue is a matter of life and death.
