Is There A Kanye West Movie In The Works?

Kanye WThe recent leaks of hacked Sony emails have given movie fans plenty of interesting tidbits — including about Spider-Man and Marvel potentially teaming up as well as an all-female “Ghostbusters” reboot. And now music fans may have something to be excited about, too: A Kanye West-related movie.

“I supervise all of Kanye’s film and media projects, and we have a major film project coming up that involves both cinematic and technological innovation, so I naturally thought Sony and wanted to reach out,” Elon Rutberg, the creative director of Yeezy’s DONDA, wrote to Sony Pictures Entertainment co-chairman Amy Pascal on August 4, according to The Daily Beast.

“We premiered a multi-screen cinema experience [“Cruel Summer”] to great response at Cannes 2012, and are looking to take the storytelling to the next level with a feature length film, shot for an immersive cinema experience.”

No matter what happens with that “major” project, though, it does look like we’ll be seeing Kanye on the big screen next year — alongside his buddy (and recent audience member for a performance of his new album), Seth Rogen.

“We’ll have an XMAS tease for 2015,” producer James Weaver wrote in an email to Pascal, Rogen and Evan Goldbern. “We have a specific idea to attach to THE INTERVIEW that will crush. Seth, Joe, and [Anthony] Mackie reenacting the scene from BIG on the floor piano at FAO Schwartz with KANYE WEST. It’s f–king awesome.”

That does sound awesome.

In addition to a potential Kanye project, The Daily Beast highlighted an email between Beyoncé‘s father, Matthew Knowles, and Sony execs, about a possible Destiny’s Child movie.
