ActionAid Zambia has called on political party leaders that are vying for presidency to commit themselves towards transparency in their campaigns.
ActionAid Zambia says political parties must be transparent by declaring their sources of funding as these have the ability to erode a country’s Domestic Resource Mobilization capacity if it’s shrouded in corrupt practices and agreements.
In a statement to Qfm News the civil society organization has also called on political party leaders to commit themselves towards combating Illicit Financial Flows.
The civil society organization states that political parties must demonstrate to the Zambian people their resolve to urgently address illicit financial flows which is facilitated by 3 major factors.
It says these factors include corruption, money laundering and tax avoidance.
ActionAid Zambia wants political parties to demonstrate prioritization of this challenge and how they intend to address it.
