EITA challenges presidential candidates to state their plans for mining sector

Extractive Industries Transparency Alliance (EITA) has challenged aspiring presidential candidates to state their position with regard the mining and mineral wealth of the country.

EITA national Coordinator Mwiya Mwandawande has told Qfm news in an interview that there is need for politicians to take certain sectors such as mining industry as top priority considering that this is a cornerstone for the country’s revenue generation.

Mr. Mwandawande stresses that it is unfortunate that so far no presidential candidate has made a convincing explanation to the Zambians on how they intend to manage the mining sector and mining companies for the benefit of the majority Zambians.

He adds that it is also a responsibility for Zambians to demand from politicians to know the message they have on mining and how the mineral wealth will be used to benefit communities.
