UNIP advises RB to leave MMD alone

The opposition United National Independence Party (UNIP) has advised former Republican President Rupiah Banda to help rebuild the MMD and not bring confusion by maintaining that he will stand on the MMD ticket in the forthcoming presidential by-election.

And the former ruling party has observed that Mr. Banda has used undemocratic means to come back to active politics.Nevers n RB

UNIP information Publicity Secretary Charles Mwelwa says the former leader should have been the one to unite the party and the ruling party which have witnessed wrangles and give advice as the two parties contest in the forthcoming presidential by-election.

Mr. Mwelwa has observed that as long as political leadership remains a preserve of the old politicians, economic empowerment of the young people will remain a dream.

Mr. Mwelwa has therefore condemned attempts by some old politicians to wish to cling on to power.

He calls on youths to stand together and denounce the habit by old politician to trample on the rights and opportunities of young people and ensure that political space is created for their meaningful contribution.

  1. Charles is dead correct.Rb should be advising young coming up politicians rather trying to compete with them. What else does he want in life?He was in unip garment for years, briefly retired and came back into politics under mmd where he worked as vp to late Levy then as president after Levy. Now as old as he is,he should just take his benefits and go to his farm and look after nurse his wife. Why does he insist on ruling us?Kodi ndise bana bake?
