Rwandese in Zambia travel papers processing not progressing well – Govt

SimbyakulaGovernment says the process to facilitate Rwandese who lost their refugee status in Zambia with travel documents to enable their repatriation or integration in host countries is not progressing well.

Earlier this year the Government had commenced a process to facilitate Rwandese who lost their refugee status in Zambia with travel documents to enable their repatriation or integration in host countries.

But Home Affairs Minister Ngosa Simbyakula has expressed disappointment that some Rwandese are not devoted to acquire the passports.

Speaking in an interview, Dr. Simbyakula says his Ministry will soon meet the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) and Rwandan’s officials to discuss the way forward.

He says the officials from Rwanda and Zambia were scheduled to meet last month to discuss the way forward but that they were unable to meet due to the death of President Michael Sata.
