FAWEZA calls on next President to consider women in decision making

Forum for African Women Educationalists of Zambia (FAWEZA) has called on the next Republican President to ensure that he or she puts more women in decision making more especially in the education sector.

And FAWEZA has also called on the next Republican President to ensure that the pupil teacher ratio is improved.

FAWEZA Executive Director Agnes Shipanuka has told QFM News in a telephone interview that it is worrying that women are still not present at higher levels of decision making in the education sector.

Ms Shipanuka notes that all the top positions at the Ministry of Education are occupied by men making it difficult for them to understand issues affecting female in the education sector.

She says FAWEZA wants also to see more resources allocated to the education sector saying the current funding to the education sector is minimal.

She has since appealed to the next Head of State to ensure that he or she listens more from stakeholders if the challenges in the education sector are to be addressed.
