ZIALE ponders on accrediting law schools

Zambia Advanced Legal Education (ZIALE) has announced plans of introducing a mechanism for accrediting law schools owing to the declining learning standards in the country.

ZIALE Director Enoch Mulembe says the mechanism which will be introduced soon under ZIALE’s legal framework will be used as a tool to approve law schools in the country.

Mr. Mulembe has disclosed to Qfm News in an interview that the draft of the accreditation regulations has reached an advance stage.

He says once this mechanism is in place ZIALE will be inspecting learning standards at all law schools in the country to ensure quality of learning.

The ZIALE Director notes that the aim is to ensure that students of law are properly taught and prepared well for entry into ZIALE.

He states that this means all law schools will have to have among other fundamentals adequately stocked libraries and qualified lectures.
