Simukonde urges next president to address street children issues

Child rights activist Geoffrey Simukonde has observed that the issue of street children still remains a thorn challenge in the Zambian society.

Mr. Simukonde says he thus finds it important that whoever will be elected president in the 2015 presidential election will consider addressing this issue more proactively.

He has told Qfm News in an interview that whoever will emerge Zambia’s new president should care to know that children that live on streets deserve to be looked after.

Mr. Simukonde states that in order to ensure that the new president commits himself or herself to addressing the issue of street children, child rights activists will engage the new president by writing to him or her as a reminder of the need to address the issue.

He says failure to show commitment towards child rights, activists will have no option but to express their displeasure through demonstrations.
