Govt urged to step up anti corruption fight

Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) has expressed concern with regards the efforts being made to fight corruption in the country.

TIZ Executive Director Goodwell Lungu has told Qfm news in an interview that the pace the country is moving in tackling corruption is not impressive.

Mr. Lungu says there is need for government and other stakeholders to seriously step up anti corruption efforts and come up with strategies that will help reduce the vice.

He adds that while the efforts of the Office of the Auditor General in exposing corruption are commendable, there is need for the Anti Corruption Commission to follow up such cases and bring the culprits to book.

Mr. Lungu has since appealed to public officers to desist from abusing public funds entrusted to them.
