PAZ takes pride in its lobbying for favorable legislation

The Poultry Association of Zambia (PAZ) says it has been a very effective vehicle for lobbying for favorable legislation and government policies to ensure that there is a vibrant and well regulated poultry industry in the country.

PAZ Chairman Rodney Sisala says the efforts have led to an industry that has been growing consistently between ten and fifteen percent per annum in the last five years.

Mr.Sisala notes that as a result of this growth, they have seen most players along the poultry value chain expanding their operations as well as new players coming into the sector.

He adds that the challenges that have been experienced in the beef and pork sectors in Zambia in the last five years and the favorable prices of poultry products have led to Zambians consuming more chicken than beef.

Mr. Sisala has commended the various players in the poultry value chain for their efficient operations which have led to poultry meat becoming cheaper than beef, pork, fish and others.

He further states that it is estimated that chicken now accounts for about 43% of all meet consumed in the country followed by beef.
