Zambia Episcopal Conference (ZEC) has encouraged political parties in the country to demonstrate maturity by inculcating democracy within their ranks ahead of the 2015 presidential election.

ZEC Secretary General Cleophas Lungu says this means following the rule of law and respecting their party regulations and constitutions.

Father Lungu has told Qfm News that political parties should also be able to conduct processes of adopting candidates to take part in any election in a manner that is peaceful, credible, free and fair.

He says ZEC is therefore hoping and praying that when the 2015 presidential election has been conducted, all political parties will accept the election results.

Father Lungu notes that what is further important during and after the presidential election is for all Zambians to maintain peace and tranquility as this is the legacy that nation’s forefather left the country.
