YWCA counsels neglectful parents

The Young Women Christian Association (YWCA) has expressed displeasure at the high number of parents neglecting their children and thereby exposing to engaging in illicit activities such alcohol abuse.

YWCA Executive Director Patricia Ndhlovu says some parents are to blame for not looking after their children.

Ms. Ndhlovu says girls are the most are vulnerable to this neglect.

She stresses that girl children under the age of 15 must be carefully monitored and taught by parents on the dangers of taking alcohol and the consequences of having sex at a tender age.

Ms. Ndhlovu adds that parents should take the responsibility of educating their girl children so that they grow up into responsible women who will be able to effectively contribute to national development.

She has also advised girls to take care of themselves and concentrate on school as opposed to engaging themselves into risky activities that would endanger their lives.
