UNIP ACTIVE launched

A new United National Independence Party (UNIP) wing called UNIP ACTIVE has been launched with a goal of taking the former ruling party to a National Congress.

Speaking at a media briefing held in Lusaka this afternoon UNIP ACTIVE publicity Secretary Stanley Chinoyh said the wing is meant to bring legality to the his party’s Central Committee, Provincial Committees and District Committees which he says are currently not operating.

Mr. Chinoyh states the reason why UNIP ACTIVE has been formed is to gather all factions and members of the party in order to address the current leadership crisis in the former ruling party.

He says UNIP ACTIVE has an expectation take the party to the National Congress within six months in which period he says the District Conferences and Provincial conferences will be held.

The UNIP ACTIVE publicity secretary has disclosed that his wing intends to engage all party members, leaders and any frustrated and exiled unjustly from the party.

He says his wing is of the view that it is a round table dialogue that will iron out any differences that may be held by any group of party members.

Mr. Chinoyh however states that the interest of the general members will rule supreme.

He further discloses that among other aims of the UNIP ACTIVE wing is to kick start the activities for the Youth League of the party and bring youthful leadership into the key party areas to ensure the party’s continued survival.

And Mr. Chinoyh notes that his wing thinks that given the obtaining situation in the country a government of national unity is the only solution for Zambia.

He says the ball thus lies in the hands of the media to promote the concept of government of national unity to public.
Mr. Chinoyh states that UNIP ACTIVE also thinks that currently there is no single political party that is ready for the January 20th 2015 presidential election.
