CSO poised at improving gender statistics

Central Statistical Office (CSO) has disclosed that it has embarked on the process of improving gender statistics.

CSO Director John Kalumbi says the development involves the presentation of statistics portraying the situation of men and women, boys and girls in various social and economic spheres.

Mr. Kalumbi notes that one important area that his office has recognized is the need to improve gender based violence statistics owing to the identified inconsistencies in various administrative GBV data.

He adds that since early this year, CSO has engaged various stakeholder institutions in improving GBV statistics adding that efforts have been made to standardize and harmonize data collection instruments for a comprehensive data production.
