KK International airport expansion works to commence January 2015

National Airports Corporation Limited (NACL) says construction works to upgrade and expand the Kenneth Kaunda International airport at the cost of $360 million will commence in January 2015.

Two of the main features of the refurbished airport will be a new passenger terminal with an annual capacity of four million passengers and a commercial complex with conferences facilities, a shopping malls and two hotels one of which will be a 30 room hotel for transit passengers another an 80 room hKK-AIRPORT Newotel open to the general public.

NACL Managing Director Robsinson Mistala has disclosed to QFM News in an interview that the approval of the design for the new terminal building has reached an advanced stage.

Mr. Mistala has disclosed that so far, four facilities are on top priority with regards the upgrading of the international airport.

He cites these as the control tower, fire and rescue, office complex both to be located on the southern side of the airport.
