Political scientist Alex Ng’oma has advised Zambians to treat with a pinch of salt promises being mDr Ngomaade by presidential hopefuls ahead of the 2015 presidential election.

Dr. Ng’oma has reminded people in the country that politicians will always be politicians.

In an interview with Qfm News by telephone, Dr. Ng’oma states that people should be wary that during election time politicians will always sugar coat everything they say, including things they clearly know are not practical to achieve.

He has cautioned that during such a period, politicians will go to lengths of promising the moon and the sun when in fact such things are unattainable.

He says the people of Zambia should thus be wise and careful by taking all such promises with skepticism.

Dr. Ng’oma has since stressed the need for politicians to realize the need of making realistic promises during election campaigns.

He says this is because unrealistic promises made to the people always prove very difficult to fulfill once in government.

Dr. Ng’oma states politicians should be mindful that there is evidence to this effect of how difficult it becomes to fulfill unrealistic promises, adding that Zambians do not however want to go through such an experience again.
