Nawakwi urges women to risk up

Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) President Edith Nawakwi has urged women in the country to rise up.

Ms. Nawakwi says even as the country commemorates 16 days of Gender Based Violence activism, no one will save the women of Zambia or emancipate them if they do not do it themselves.

She notes that the most down trodden members of the community are women thus the need for them to wake up and be a part of national development.

Ms. Nawakwi says women should not allow themselves to be victims of gender based violence, but show the men that they are able to defend themselves.

She adds that women should also not be intimidated, but always speak out and report all GBV cases.

Ms. Nawakwi has further advised men to protect the women and be on their side instead of abusing them.
