YALI encourages PF to unite

The ruling Patriotic Front has been encouraged to unite now that consensus seem to have been reached on holding the general conference to elect the party’s president and the 2015 presidential candidate.

The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) has also encouraged the ruling party to work towards ensuring that the general conference succeeds in order for the party to come out much stronger than it is presently.

YALI Governance Advisor Isaac Mwanza states that his organization is further calling upon political party leaders whose parties have expressed interest participating in the 2015 presidential election to avoid the tendency of firing party members at a time when emotions are high.

Mr. Mwanza notes that such practices are only bringing about disunity in most political parties.

He says YALI further calls on the Zambia Police and Zambia Army to ensure that there is law and order during the power transition period.

Mr Mwanza notes that this should be done in anticipation of the likelihood of eruption of violence during this period.
