NCC unearths scam of forged registration certificates

NCCNational Council for Construction (NCC) has unearthed a scam in which companies have been forging NCC Registration certificates.

The Council has since commenced legal action against companies that have been found in possession of forged registration certificates.

NCC Public Relations officer Chama Mwansa in a statement issued today says the Council has since suspended the registration certificates for the affected companies to pave way for ongoing investigations in collaboration with the Zambia Police Service.

Ms Mwansa adds that a Mr Levi Simuchimba has since been arrested in connection with the forged certificates and is currently on Police bond awaiting court proceedings.

She explains that Mr Simuchimba has been acting as an agent of a number of contractors in the submission and collection of application and certificates.

Ms Mwansa says the NCC is encouraging members of the public, in particular contractors to avoid using agents to submit their applications.
