PF Central Committee suspends Dr Scott

The central committee of the Patriotic Front has with immediate effect suspended Dr Guy Scott as acting president of the party for abrogating the party constitution.

Speaking during a media briefing today, Central Committee representative Benson Chali who is PF central province chairperson says Dr. Scott’s first act was to ban meetings of the central committee and Cabinet and thereby begun to rule by decree without any authority whatsoever.

He says the central committee has also noted with concern that Dr. Scott has also engaged in alleged manipulation of the state owned media institutionDr-Guy-Scott-Acting-President-s.

Mr. Chali says the central committee is ready to go for the general conference to select a leader who will be the party’s presidential candidate.

He says the central committee has since directed acting party Secretary General Bridget Atanga to submit all applications for those vying for the office of president to central committee by 14:00hours today.

Mr Chali says the central committee as the highest policy making body between general conferences has the authority to decide and superintend over party issues.

Mr Chali says the letter of suspension has since been delivered to Dr. Scott.

Earlier this morning 70 members of parliament who are behind the candidature of Justice Minister Edgar Lungu demanded that the central committee suspends Dr. Scott as president of the party.

Eastern province Minister Malozo Sichone who read the speech on behalf of the MPs says Dr. Scott has abrogated the party constitution through several actions that are inconsistent with the constitution.
