Demeaning of Sata’s wishes saddening – Chanda

The alleged path that has been taken by some newspaper publications to demean late President Michael Sata’s wishes has been described as saddening.

Former Open Society Foundation (OSF) Executive Director Sunday Chanda says he finds it particularly distressing that some media houses that have been all along pretending to respect the late President Sata today have the audacity to trash what he stood for.

Mr. Chanda says he thinks that Patriotic Front (PF) members must stand and defend President Sata and what he stood for.

He notes that while President Sata was not above the party or republican constitution, his wishes constitute the persuasive force and appeals to the consciences of the leadership and general membership of the PF.

Mr. Chanda states that morality therefore demands that PF members do reflect and embrace what late President Sata stood for, his wishes and what he envisioned as a pioneer of the ruling PF.

He adds that to say that President Sata’s wishes do not mean anything to the ruling party going forward is thus an insult to his leadership and legacy.

Mr. Chanda has suggested such an insult is what ruling PF members must not permit to thrive.
He says President Sata may be dead, but he still remains the patriarch, the leader and the conscience of the movement called PF.
